Upgrading from beta to full release

Postby chrischippie » Sat Mar 01, 2008 6:58 pm

Hey Guys,

When PT3 is officially released will we be simply able to unlock it and keep all our saved hands and settings or will there be a new version to install so we lose all our hands?

You will be able to keep all your existing hands - I can't give an official word on this, but at worst there should be an automatic conversion.

Make sure that you save your hand history files (or at least save the hand history text in your database). I do not think we will be able to offer an automatic conversion from a lot of the beta's due to the fact the database is not complete therefore you will more than likely need to reimport your hand histories. A lot depends on whether or not the database structure changes much up to the final release.

Best regards,

Derek

As long as you saved your hand histories in PT2 (i.e. didn't turn the setting off) then you will be able to convert your PT2 DBs.
As for hands in the PT3 betas, I'm under the impression that (again, as long as you're saving HHs) you'll be able to automatically move your hands to the release version, but currently this functionality is not included so you should be keeping all the original HH files somewhere safe. Sometimes a new beta version requires a new DB and a re-import - for this you need the HH files.

As long as people are saving the text in their DB, you could always make it look like an automatic conversion :).

PokerTracker automatically keeps a copy of every hand history file in it's database (unless you chose to turn that option off, which is not recommended) whether it is access or postgres. If you don't know about how the DBs are managed, you don't need to worry about it - PT handles it all in the background.
