Unable to connect to this database.

Postby hhekestad12 » Mon May 06, 2013 5:36 pm

Unable to connect to this database. Please check the configuration.

I have tried everything that I have come over now, its not the firewall, and I have tried with a lot of different passwords.

Its localhost, 5432, postgres, dbpass.

I have tried to delete postgreSQL as well, but i cant figure out how to delete the last bit. My computer is brand new, got it today, so there is no chance of there being
postgrSQL on the computer from earlier. I have had this happen to me before, but I have always figured out how to fix it, but this time I am stuck. Please help me
because I am getting really, really frustrated.
Was really looking forward to grinding on my new computer.
Please help!

Click Start type services.msc and click on it when it appears. Can you find PostgreSQL in the list? If so, can you start it?

I went to start - run and put in services.msc. Got ut a long list of names, but postgreSQL was not there. Could it be under another name?

It'd be in the Ps always - it might be psql but it should be pretty similar. If you double check and there's nothing similar there, you need to install PostgreSQL - PokerTracker cannot function without it. Look in your Program Files (x86) directory on your main drive and see if you have a PostgreSQL folder and if you do what the name of the first subfolder is - that's the version that you had. It'll likely be 8.3, 8.4 or 9.0 - let me know and I can link you to the proper installer.

Went I click "Start" - "Run" - "services.msc" a long list of programnames appears, but no postgres. But on my desktop I have to folders for postgreSQL, one that is 8.4 and another that is 9.0. I tried with the 8.4 version when the 9.0 did not work the first time.

Your database should not be installed on your desktop. The desktop has special permissions that can cause things to not work properly. Please take a look at our uninstall and reinstall instructions here which should help you get things working again.

I was now able to successfully uninstall PostgreSQL. I have PT4 installed on the PC, should I uninstall this as well, or can I leave it? Can you also please link me the proper version for me to install? So I don't get any F ups?
I am using PT4, on a Windows 8. Thank you so far, you have been extremely helpful!

If it's working you don't need to uninstall it. On your Windows 8 machine, is it 64 bit or 32 bit?
