ODBC

Postby rabbitlover » Fri Aug 29, 2008 11:11 am

I have an odd occurrence that has started with PT2. I have 4 databases and 2 of them have started to not work.

When I open PT2, I can go to "Manage Database Names" and the problem 2 say "other" under the column for type of database, while the working two say "access". I can remove, then add these databases back while in this window, having them point to the correct ptrack database; but they still don't function. When I try to open the database I get an error message that says:

Unable to connect to the database.
999 - SQLSTATE = IM002
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

I have gone into the ODBC Data Sources Admistrator window and on the System DSN tab have configured them to point to the correct databases and then clicked Repair. Everything seems OK in the Data Sources (ODBC).

I am at a loss.

As you can tell I also need to be pointed to direction on placing a screenshot in the forum. I knew how to capture the error message window and put it into MS Paint, but I don't know how to paste it into a forum post

Thanks

Edit: 10 minutes later, I think I have it figured out. There may be a mix up in the DSN keys associated with the PTRACK keys in the registry. I'll know here after lunch. Don't try this at home kids.

That was it, the registry entries needed fixing!

Now, I still need to know how to put an image in a post. I see the Img button, but when I insert a path nothing happens when I Preview; just see the path!

Thanks

You have to be able to upload the image to the web in order to link an image. You can't upload it to the PT server, you would have to have your own server and then you could paste the link to it there.

So everything is working for you now?

Yes Pat, thanks. Somehow the PTRACK registry entries would reference say P5 when in fact the database was P4, etc.
Just got the two that were off having the correct entry and all is well.
