Multiple problems

Postby billrake » Sat Sep 06, 2008 9:58 am

I was getting an error indicating I was not connecting to database no matter if I rebooted or where I started from, so I uninstalled postgre and installed 8.3.3. Then I converted my access database, now I get this:

*********************************
PT Version: 2.17.03b
Error Date: 09/06/2008 09:52
Database Error: 7
Error Text: SQLSTATE = 23505
ERROR: duplicate key value violates unique constraint "player_idx_01";
Error while executing the query

No changes made to database.

INSERT INTO players ( screen_name, treeview_icon, player_id, main_site_id, hide_ind, ring_player, tourney_player ) VALUES ( 'martypremier', 1, 15519, 2, 0, 0, 1 )
DataObject: d_player_names
Syntax In Error: INSERT INTO players ( screen_name, treeview_icon, player_id, main_site_id, hide_ind, ring_player, tourney_player ) VALUES ( 'martypremier', 1, 15519, 2, 0, 0, 1 )
*********************************

now what? thanks

Were you using PostgreSQL 8.3 before you reinstalled it or were you using another version like 8.2 or 8.0?

Did you do anything in PT after you reinstalled it or did it just start working again?

Go to the Utilities > Database Maintenance and Options window. Are you able to select your name from the list? If so, select it, does it show any sessions there?

My ring games all seem to be there, but no tournament (just what I've played since repair). I know it would be helpful if I told you what I did, but I searched the boards for responses to the errors I was getting then did what was recommended. I couldn't duplicate it now with a gun to my head. I did start a new db, renamed it, selected something like "use existing db", clicked OK, restarted.

I don't see how it would be possible for your tournament info. to just disappear if all your ring game data is still intact. Are you sure you don't just have some filters set? Go to the Preferences tab of the tourney stats window and click the Remove All Filters button. Does the data show up then?

I don't know what would have happened then. When did you backup the database last?

Was this before you reinstalled PostgreSQL and the tournament stats disappeared? If so, use the restore option on the Utilities > PostgreSQL Database Functions window to restore from that backup file.
