can't find file

when i open poker tracker 2, it says, "Could not file 'C:\Program Files\Poker Tracker V2\ptrack.mdb'......everything was working fine last night. the last thing i dide was compact the database.

please help asap :)

Are you using Vista? If so, it sounds like you haven't been running PT as administrator every time like you need to be.

Go to the c:\program files\poker tracker v2 folder. Is there a file called ptrack_backup.mdb there? If so, what is the date/time and size of the file.

Now click on the Compatibility Files link/button. Is there a ptrack.mdb and/or a ptrack_backup.mdb file here? If so, what are the dates and sizes of these files?

i do have vista, but i religiously run as admin.

the backup file has 224 MB and was last updated b6-9-08 at 10:06pm

It should be right under the title bar of the explorer window.

Rename the ptrack_backup.mdb file to ptrack.mdb and try to run PT again.

Make sure you renamed it correctly. If you don't have file extensions turned on, you need to do that...

ok. i did everything suggested. i used another thread to repair the database through the odbc window on my laptop. but, when i go to repair, it says "unrocognized database format" :(

Why did you have to try to repair the db? Were you getting errors?

Are you able to find the "Compatibility Files" option on Windows Explorer?? It should look like this:

If you click on that, what are the file names and date/times of the files in this folder?

when i renamed the backup file to ptrack, it went to ptrack (2).

OK, go to that compatibility files folder, right-click on the "ptrack.mdb" file that is 215428 kb and select "copy" from the popup menu. Now, go back to the "real" c:\program files\poker tracker v2 folder and right-click again in that folder and select "paste".

It should now put that file into this folder. Now right-click on the PT2 desktop icon and select "run as administrator" from the popup menu. Does it work now??
