pt not responding

my pt freezes and gives not responding messages all the time. i read the topic about the nvidia but clicking in the desktop shows me the nvidia desktopm manager but doesn t give me an option to turn it off. how should i proceed since right now the software is useless freezing all the time?

try using MSCONFIG to disable the actual driver.

Start > Run type MSCONFIG and hit OK.
On the window that opens, click the Startup tab.
Find 'nwiz' in the list and uncheck the box next to it. Click Apply to save the changes.
Now restart the computer and try it again.
