hello, i'm just wondering how often i should be creating a new database, i have 125K hands in my existing database and it's extemely laggy and sometimes won't even open. is this because of so many hands? how often should i be doing this? also (this just started) when i try and open the ring game icon the program doesn't respond and it never comes up...thanks for the help in advance.

You should use the Utilities > Compact A Poker Database on a regular basis.
Also, when you have this many hands you should be using the Preferences tab of the stats window to set filters (i.e. date filters) so that it doesn't try to retrieve the entire database each time you open that window.
Creating a new db is up to you, if it's too slow for you then you should consider it.

i always compact it at least once a week...so it should be ok? so i take it there's no need to create a new one w/ that many hands?

As I said, it's up to you. If it's too slow, as you indicate, then create a new database.
