Moving hand history files?

Postby quaider » Tue Aug 26, 2008 12:04 am

Been using pto for about a month when. When I open File>Auto import PS hand hist. I get a message saying 31 hand history files in my hand history folder , this indicates you have not been moving or allowing poker tracker to move..........
I checked the box Move processed files to folder when window closes , Ive always had that checked and I keep getting this message?

Make sure you are moving the files to a totally separate folder and not to folder that is underneath the PokerStars folder. Also, PTO will only move real money Omaha files. If you play other game types you will need to move those files manually.

I get the same # of hand history files (186) for PTO ,PTH , and I just downloaded PTS trial version and I get the same # for it.

How do I move them manually? How do I find out what type of hands these are? I am wondering if I have screwed up all the folders.

Open an Explorer window and go to the folder PokerStars hand history folder where you have the PT programs set to get hands from. Then drag the 186 files into your processed folder. If you are still getting the message after that then you must have a processed folder that is underneath the same folder you are importing hands from. Make sure you are using a totally separate folder for processed files.

I can get to the folder but not through an explorer window? I get there by going to my computer. Is there something I'm not understanding about that?

When u say drag is that the same as copy / paste because I know how to do that. Do I drag by right clicking and highlighting then use the cursor to move it?

Say I get these files moved how do I stop the files from building up again , as I use pto the # goes up. I checked and the folders arent under the pokerstars folders.

I just wanna understand the process here , pokerstars saves my Hand Hists. on my harddrive in a folder. Then something happens?? its goes to the database processed in some way . Then a copy of this processed hand history is moved to a different folder for storage?

Using My Computer is the same thing as the Explorer. Either drag the files by using the right-mouse or use Cut/Paste to move the files. Don't use Copy/Paste since that will leave a copy of the files that the programs will have to re-read and you'll still get that warning.

All of the PT programs move the files after the hands are imported if you have the move to processed files box checked. The only time the files won't move is if there are import errors or the game type isn't supported by the programs. You shouldn't have to do the manual move procedure too often.

Having trouble moving them , I highlight by right clicking and moving over all of them and when I right click to get to cut the highlight disappears and I get a box that comes up when I click on a blank area: view
arrange icons by
refresh etc.

Dragging it didnt seem to work either.

There are a mixture of omaha , holdem and stud files.

Can I just delete these , if so how?

To delete the files just select the folder that has the files in it, then on the right side where the files are listed select the files you want to delete and press the Delete key. To delete them all go to the menu and select Edit > Select All. Then use the Delete key.
