slow database

Postby akanter5 » Tue May 12, 2009 1:20 pm

I have compacted the databases, but when I try to pull up my ring game stats it goes very slow. It take close to 2 minutes to bring it up. I tried to search for slow database or slow statistics but couldn't find anything.

How many hands do you have for yourself? Are you trying to bring up all data or do you have it filtered? Try using a date filter, does that help.

I have about 200K hands. I dont use filters when I am looking at the categories. Is there a way to eliminate players who I have less than say 10 hands with? Would that make it run faster?

There's no way to do that, and I doubt it would help anyway. Are you using a PostgreSQL database? If not you might want to convert it which should help with speed and prevent your database from hitting its limit.

OK. Could you give me the link to the instructions to switch?

Thank You.

If you can't get the 8.2.x version listed in the instructions then try this version:

I just looked and noticed that I have two DB files over 1GB from when I transfered my database from my old computer. Could that be slowing it down? Should I delete the old one?

What are the file names of those two files?

hhdbo and hhcopyo

ptracko, ptracko (2), ptracko_backup

all five of those are over 1M KBs

I doubt they are slowing anything down. hhcopyo and ptracko_backup are backup files that you can delete, but you might want to keep them for backup purposes. You may still want to convert to PostgreSQL to improve performance as I mentioned before.
