Analyze population

Postby myeari » Sun Mar 10, 2024 11:34 am

Hello,
I would like to figure out different tendencies of the players in my field.
For example, I would like to know their hand value (strength) when they probe bet on the turn.
So, I know that I can use the All Player Report option.
I know that I can delete my self (using the NOT filter) and I know that I can aggregate players when removing 'player' from the stats.
Now I'm doubting what are the best actions.
One way is to add probe bet turn to stats, but unfortunately, there is no Hand Values stats, but only as filter.
So I can filter for each hand value, and get the probe bet stats for each value hand.
However, this is very Sisyphean work, do it for each value hand separately.
Do you have any better ideas for me?
For example, can I add new stats (which are not listed), using the filter options?
Thanks

There is a 'Cash Player "Made Hand" stats for grouping' custom statistic package available in the Download Warehouse.

Flag_Hippo, thank you so much for your answer! it was very helpful.
However, there is one bug in all three "made hand" stats.
They count (for any street) a few "straight flush" which do not exist.
Can you check it please, and maybe fix this bug.
One more thing, whenever there is no made hand, it is referred as "high card" (even if the player does not have higher card than the board).
Are there any (costume) stats that distinguish between these non-made hands, such as straight draw, gutshot, flush draw (as you can find in filters, but not in stats)?
Thanks again!!

I will reply back later on this.

If you want to distinguish further then you would need to test for the players id_x_hand_strength value of which there are three types for high card hands.

I am not aware of any so that would require a custom statistic with the groupings you want. Bear in mind that draws are not just applicable to high card hands and that players can have more than one type of draw.

Thanks for your reply.
I don't really care about the differences between made hand (though I did not find the id_x_hand_strength stat. where is it?)
I really care about the non-made hands - to know if they had some draw which induces pop to bet/call (for example, identify the hand strength - made or draw - they do a probe bet).
And you right, there are draws with made hands, and more than one type.
So if there is no such stat, what should I do next?
I don't have any experience in creating stats, and this one seems quite complex.

That's not a statistic - it's a part of the PokerTracker 4 database schema which is used to create statistics.

This would require a custom statistic - see this guide for the basics on custom statistics creation and this guide for a deeper walkthrough. While the latter was written for PokerTracker 3 and the user interface is different the techniques still apply to PokerTracker 4.

A new version has been uploaded. You will need to delete the existing statistics and as well as the custom columns (val_f_hand_group, val_t_hand_group, val_r_hand_group) in the 'Columns' section before importing the updated statistics.

Thanks again!

Apparently I do need the id_x_hand_strength schema, because the "made hand" stats does not differ between player hand and board.
For example, it defined pair whether they were pocket pair or a pair on the board.
However, I don't really understand what should I do to use this schema, and incorporate it into the report.

Regarding the new stats, I can't delete the stats or columns. The delete button is disabled (in gray) in the program. Why is that?

Please refer to the guides I linked to in my previous reply to learn the basics of custom statistic creation. The id_x_hand_strength for each hand group is listed here. For example testing for top pair on the flop would be this:

Code: Select all
cash_hand_player_combinations.flg_f_1pair and cash_hand_player_combinations.id_f_hand_strength = 3

Have you selected the correct statistic/column? Built-in statistics/columns cannot be deleted but custom ones can. Please attach a screenshot so I can see what you are seeing.

I invested a few hours in learning the guides and in searching for similar posts.
However, i will need some help with inserting the expression in the report.
For each hand category (e.g., one pair) and hand strength with this category (e.g., top pair) I would like to add a stat that will present the appropriate label (e.g., top pair) - similar to made_hand stat.
I saw that for the made_hand stat there is a use with lookup_from_id.
Should I use something similar? If yes, which function should I use, and how?
OR can you shorten my learning time, and build one stat as an example (e.g. top pair) that I can import, and then I will duplicate and change that for the other strengths?

Also, the guides are not sufficient for building stats for identifying draws, because I don't know which functions and columns I should use.
I will need more help on that as well.
Or maybe an example stat that you build for one draw, which i can import, duplicate and change it accordingly.
